Almacén de la Capilla

Winery located in Colonia Estrella, just 3 km from the city of Carmelo. Now in its 5th generation, the Cordano family continues to cultivate grapes of the highest oenological quality.

Our Story

The history of the Cordano family begins in 1855, when the first Italian migrants settled in Colonia Estrella, just a few kilometers from Carmelo, bringing with them their traditions and the cultivation of the vine. The pioneer was Ángel Cordano, who arrived from Genoa and planted the first Criolla vines, starting a winemaking tradition that continues to this day.

Over the generations, the family expanded its production and is now in its fifth generation, cultivating high-quality grapes such as Tannat, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Muscat of Hamburg, with a winery capacity of nearly 100,000 liters.

In the family’s old general store, the “Almacén de la Capilla” was born, a space that preserves original floors, ceilings, and objects from the early 20th century. Here, limited-production wines are presented under the Almacén de la Capilla line (10,000 bottles annually, sold exclusively on-site) and the 5th Generation line, which pays tribute to the family’s history.

Since 2012, the estate has been transformed into a wine tourism destination, and since 2014 it has opened its doors to the public, offering guided tours, tastings, lunches, lodging in a cabin among the vineyards, and homemade products. Today, the Almacén de la Capilla welcomes visitors from all over the world, who enjoy the family tradition, hospitality, and unique landscapes of Carmelo.
