Narbona

Historic estate with winery, restaurant, lodge-style accommodation, shop, tastings, and viticulture experiences. In its founding estate from 1909, the first vineyards were planted over 100 years ago, establishing it as one of the oldest wineries in Uruguay.

Our Story

Narbona Winery is located on a 50-hectare estate in Carmelo, Colonia, and is part of the historic estate founded in 1909 by Juan de Narbona, a pioneer in establishing wineries in Uruguay. The old estate preserves the essence of that era with its original architecture and old stone cellar, a living testimony to the winemaking tradition.

In 1990, a careful restoration of the historic estate began, respecting its original design. Eight years later, in 1998, the first vineyards were planted, cultivating varieties such as Tannat, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, and Syrah in Carmelo, as well as Sauvignon Blanc and Albariño in Maldonado.

Growth continued in 2010 with the construction of a new winery, integrated into the original estate and equipped with state-of-the-art technology to control temperature, humidity, and other key factors for the production of fine wines.

Today, Narbona combines the century-old legacy of its historic winery with the innovation of its modern facilities, offering a unique experience where tradition and modernity meet in every glass.
