Zubizarreta

The Zubizarreta family arrived more than sixty years ago to the lands of the historic Calera de las Huérfanas, near Carmelo. This winery offers artisanal wines, a shop, tasting tours, and events.

Our Story

The story of Bodega Zubizarreta began in 1957, when Pedro Zubizarreta, a Basque immigrant, and his son founded this family project in Carmelo. Today, the third generation continues to craft wines with artisanal tradition, keeping alive the dream of the grandfather who took the first steps.

Across its vineyard hectares grow varieties such as Tannat, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Marselan, Arinarnoa, Albariño, and others, giving life to young, fruity wines full of nuances. The Río de la Plata’s microclimate and the region’s sandy-loam soils create a privileged terroir, the result of decades of dedication and care.

In recent years, the family has opened the doors of its historic Casa de Aitona, a restored early 20th-century manor house, to welcome visitors. There, surrounded by stories and tastings, guests experience the essence of a winery that preserves the artisanal touch in every stage of production. Today, Bodega Zubizarreta continues to evolve, adding new creations such as its Alta Gama line, a reflection of the passion and deep connection with the land that remain unchanged over time.
